The Josephine Bolling McCall Scholarships, affectionately known as “The Josephine’s,” celebrate a legacy of education, perseverance, and truth while creating opportunities for the next generation.

Through the generosity of our donors, The Elmore Bolling Initiative will award five one-time scholarships to eligible graduating seniors from Central High School and Calhoun High School. The scholarships reflect our belief that educational opportunity can help young people build strong foundations, pursue their goals, and contribute to the future of their communities.

Applicants must:
Be currently enrolled and in good standing at Central High School or Calhoun High School
Be a graduating senior
Have an anticipated high school graduation date of Spring 2027

There is no GPA requirement.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

A complete application must include:
Two letters of recommendation, with one letter from the applicant's high school counselor
A certified copy of the applicant's school transcript
A letter documenting the applicant's community service hours, submitted on official letterhead

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 14, 2026

Five scholarship recipients will be selected from among eligible applicants through a lottery selection process.

HOW RECIPIENTS ARE SELECTED

The Josephine’s are one-time scholarship awards. Each selected recipient is required to attend The Elmore Bolling Initiative's 2026 Gala At Alabama State University, J. Garrick Hardy Student Center, on October 23, 2026, to receive their scholarship.
