The Elmore Bolling Initiative proudly invites eligible Class of 2027 graduating seniors from Central High School and Calhoun High School to apply for the Josephine Bolling McCall Scholarships, affectionately known as “The Josephines.” These scholarships honor a legacy of education, perseverance, and truth, investing in the promise and potential of the next generation.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, The Elmore Bolling Initiative will award five one-time scholarships to deserving graduating seniors. These scholarships embody our belief that educational opportunities empower young people to build strong foundations, pursue their dreams, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Applicants must:
Be currently enrolled and in good standing at Central High School or Calhoun High School

Have an anticipated high school graduation date of Spring 2027

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

A complete application must include:
Two letters of recommendation, with one letter from the applicant's high school counselor

A certified copy of the applicant's school transcript

A letter documenting the applicant's community service hours, submitted on official letterhead

There is no GPA Requirement.

HOW RECIPIENTS ARE SELECTED

Five scholarship recipients will be selected from among eligible applicants through a lottery selection process.

SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTATION

The Josephines are one-time scholarship awards. Each selected recipient is required to attend The Elmore Bolling Initiative's 2026 Gala at Alabama State University, J. Garrick Hardy Student Center, on October 23, 2026, to receive scholarship.
